Takeaway 8 | Look For a Way to Align Your Work With Your Passion

What lights you up inside and makes your heart feel full? When you are doing something that is for no other reason than that it makes you feel good, it doesn't feel like work. When you love what you are doing it is because you are passionate about it.

This isn't to say to quit your job, but an invitation to check in with yourself about what work you are doing and how it is or isn't in alignment with your passion. Is there an opportunity to bridge the two? Maybe its a matter of just changing your perspective and looking at your work not as work.

There is a root of your passion that can be a common thread to nearly anything you do and when you allow yourself to live your passion, it is applied to everything you do and everyone you engage with gets to feel inspired by you because passion is contagious. When you are living in the feeling of loving what you do, others can feel it too. You are sharing your passion with others and inspiring others by doing so.

So what if you change the word work to world? Or what if you change your perspective around what work means to you? You get to create this world and live in your passion no matter what you are doing or where you are working.

Whatever you passion is, there doesn’t have to be a huge gab between your work and passion. Start something. Start a recycling program at the office, write a piece for the company newsletter that brings awareness, form a weekly writers circle at lunch and bring prompts that stimulate positive thoughts and opportunities for change.
